Hi Patricia -
We had this same issue in our first A/P run after upgrading. The first solution we had was to turn off the email feature all together; this at least allowed our EFT file to process. This was not a good long-term solution, and it seemed that the problem was coming from vendors who had elected direct deposit, but did not have an email address assigned. So we went through our list of DD vendors and made sure every one of them had an email address, creating an internail mailbox to catch the "place holders". This seems to have resolved the issue in our system. Hope this helps!

Patricia, Whitney - were you getting a specific error when you attempted to process the EFT file regarding the relaying be unsuccessful? Perhaps an smtp relay error 4.7.1? In my IT department, we've also struggled to get this to work using a few of our smtp relay servers. Just wondering now if our lack of complete email addresses is part of the issue.
Thanks! -Matt G.
Matthew,
If you are getting 4.7.1- Unable to Relay, Client does not have permission:

Hi Matthew -
I can't recall the specific error number, but it was definitely an smtp relay error. This was a pretty easy work-around solution for us; hope it helps in your instance as well!
Patricia,
If you are having trouble with EFT for AP email notifications, you may want to check the following:
If all of these are correct, you should be getting an error code that should point to something that may not be set up yet in your mail exchange server.
Hope this helps!

Hi everyone, thanks for the responses. Our IT person has to reconfigure our email setup on the server level. It worked for a day but I ran 6 EFT payments yesterday. Each vendor has an email address and I got the error message "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay". I checked the settings and it looks like MIP is not saving the settings. I will set up emails for those DD vendors who don't have email addresses. Your reponses are truely helpful.
Patricia,
For error 5.7.1, please take a look at the possibile solutions below:
o Go to Organization>Organization Information>SMTP Email and change the Server field in MIP to the IP of the mail server (if the mail server is local)
o Go to Organization>Organization Information>SMTP Email and send a test email to someone WITHIN the domain.
* If sending a test email works, that means you need to try the next option below or follow the article 9196. If this does not work, something may not be configured right in your settings in that SMTP Email screen.
o You may need to configure the anonymous relay property and add the workstation or terminal server's IP address to the list. That is found in the Exchange Management Console>Server Configuration>Hub Transport, right-click on Anonymous Relay and go to properties. This will need to be done if the user gets a new computer and the new IP address has not already been added as well.
