How to get maximum value from this forum

At Abila, we are happy to provide forums as a resource to you. Here are some tips for how to get as much value as possible from them.

If you would like to search forum messages to see if anyone else already had the same question you do, just enter some keywords in the search box in the upper-right corner of the web page and press Enter (or click the button). This search box is available on all web pages within the Abila website.

You may email subscribe to individual topics or email subscribe to all topics.

Here’s how to subscribe to multiple forums at once:

  • Go to the main forum page and look for the hyperlink underneath each forum name called "Subscribe to this forum"
  • Click the "Subscribe" hyperlink.
  • Repeat for any forum you may be interested in.

Here’s how to subscribe specific topic:

  • Open the topic you are interested in
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the post and in the footer you should see "Subscribe to this thread" hyperlink
  • Click on the hyperlink.
  • Repeat for any topic you may be interested in.

Feel free to reach out for assistance or to share solutions, ideas, and best practices. You may post new topics or comment on others’ topics. This can be done from the web site or from email.

To post from the web site – Navigate to the desired forum and click the “New topic” bottom. To comment on an existing topic, open the message and type your response in the Reply box at the bottom of the page.

To post from email

For new topics in this forum, send a new email to FundAccounting.forums@abila.com

•    To comment on an existing topic from email, you must be email subscribed to that topic (or to the entire forum). When you get the notification message after someone posts a new topic, click reply on the notification email. The email notification messages come from comments.forums@abila.com ; to prevent forum email from being classified as spam, be sure to allow that email address through any spam filters you or your organization may have set up.

NOTE: When posting new topics or comments from email, we recommend sending the email in Plain Text or Rich Text format (not HTML format). This will help minimize any formatting issues.

Forum topics Subscription

From what I can tell, I am subscribed to all topics pertaining to Fund Accounting 100.  However, I am not getting email notifications of the discussions.  Should I receive an email when a new topic is started and the conversations that take place?

Unsubscribe from threads
I would like to stay in the Fund Accounting 100 forum, but I would like to be able to unsubscribe from threads that don't apply to our system. Or might Abila begin forums for the different modules of the software to which we could subscribe? For example, we are using a hosted system, and we don't use the payroll module, and I would like to avoid receiving emails regarding those topics.

Is there a way to search inside a forum for a specific topic or keyword? I would love to spend an afternoon grazing through page by page, but I don't have that luxury.

Forum Search

Hi karnold,

Thanks for your inquiry. Currently there is not a way to search within the forums. The global search at the top right of the page should search all pages of the abila.com site and return results from any of the web pages, but, unfortunately, it appears this is not returning results from the forums. We will put this on our work list for our technology partner to review. Also, we will add an enhancement request to our list to be able to search within a specific forum. Once we have any update to report, we will update the post. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Warm regards,

Charlie Schroeder-Arce

Please please implement

Please please implement/improve the search forum feature.  As more users begin to post their problems/solutions it will be crucial to have the ability find information in threads.  It's almost a make or break feature for a forum.  Thank you.

RE: [Community | Abila] How to get maximum value from this forum

I highly agree.  The search function on the forum is just shy of useless.

Crucial to be able to search within forums

I strongly agree with the earlier posters.  We definitely need to be able to search within individual forums.  Otherwise, searching takes MUCH LONGER and is not at all efficient.

Searching the Forums

I've gotten decent results searching the forum with Google and adding the 'site' filter after my search terms.

For example, if I want to search for posts with the terms 'EFT' and 'module', I would enter the following into the Google search box:

EFT module site:forum.abila.com

For a more specific forum like MIP, I use this:

EFT module site:forum.abila.com/forums/mip-fund-accounting-0

This is not as effective as a true forum search tool because the results are limited to the last time Google indexed the site. I searched for a few things this morning and the most recent post I saw was August 25, 2014.

Finally, I should mention two more of my favorite Google search modifiers. If you're getting a lot of results and wish to eliminate some that have a common word or phrase, use a - (minus) character before the word or phrase you want to filter out. For example:

EFT module -MUG site:forum.abila.com

And if you're sure of a word or phrase in a post's Subject, use the 'intitle:' modifier.

EFT site:forum.abila.com intitle:"maximum value"

(Note the use of quotes to get an exact phrase.)

Google has several more modifiers that I don't use very frequently so I can't recall them at the moment.

Hope this helps.

I quadruple recommend search within forum

The Google option is a nice work around - but when I use the current search - I get a lot of VERY unrelated information - i.e. today about Microsoft.

I quintuple recommend and

I quintuple recommend and subsequently also recommend an upvote feature :)

Jeffrey Ryan

The fourums are useless without a decent search feature.  For example, my searc today resulted in a bachelor date acution posted on your website. Not the support that your users are paing for.

I also second the upvote option.
